Master class "Traditional Motifs of Pavlovo Posad Shawls"

The Pavlovo Posad school of artistic shawl design has existed for over a century and a half, and artists follow its traditions strictly. Flowers and ornaments on a shawl must be painted realistically. The main flower in the bouquet is a blooming rose. This canonical element is most often present on the shawls. However, the bouquets can be very diverse.

By studying the traditions and meanings of Pavlovo Posad shawl motifs, children will create their own original designs on T-shirts or tote bags using printmaking on an etching press.
