On February 18, Naberezhnye Chelny will host the "Kama Ski Marathon". These are high-level competitions, in which experienced athletes mainly participate. The prize fund will amount to 900 thousand rubles.
A grand sports festival has been held in Naberezhnye Chelny for several years now. It is worth noting that the number of participants is increasing every year, and the geography of athletes is actively expanding. Participants from all over Tatarstan, as well as from neighboring republics and regions, are joining the ski race.
"Every year the level of preparation of athletes and competitions grows. Last year, masters of sports of international class and even Olympic participants took part," noted Roman Nasredinov, Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Executive Committee, during a press conference.
The organizers traditionally arrange special "highlights" for the competitions. This time the competitions will be held jointly with the coaches and athletes of the national teams of the Republic of Tatarstan and Russia in cross-country skiing, and each participant will be able to be a part of it.
The distances available last year remain the same, namely 5 km, 30 km, and 50 km. At 9 a.m., the start will be given to participants for the shortest distance. An hour later, athletes will start for the 30 km and 50 km races.
"I would like to ask unprepared residents of Chelny to attend our festival as spectators and under no circumstances to go onto the ski track. There will be many athletes and high speeds, so in order not to injure yourself or the athletes, and not to break equipment, just be our spectator on this day," said Leyla Vopshina, head of the Titan sports school, addressing the residents of Chelny.
Registration is already actively underway on the website, and 300 participants are already ready for the ski race.
