On the stage of the Ayaz Gilyazov Naberezhnye Chelny State Tatar Drama Theatre, an event took place that theatre-goers and admirers of Tatar poetry had been eagerly awaiting. With the premiere of the play "Tut takoye delo… Gabdulla Tukay" ("It's such a matter... Gabdulla Tukay"), the theatre opened a new chapter in its history, adding to its legendary "golden collection".
From now on, alongside productions dedicated to the classics of Tatar culture – Musa Jalil, Fatih Karim, Hasan Tufan, and Salikh Saydashev – a play about the great poet has taken a worthy place. The production is timed to coincide with a significant date – the 140th anniversary of the birth of Gabdulla Tukay, whose work became the foundation of national literature.
The audience showed particular interest in the casting choice: the image of the young poet (Apush in childhood) was brilliantly brought to the stage by 11-year-old student of Gymnasium No. 2 Salikh Sahabutdinov. The role of the adult Gabdulla Tukay was played by actor Ilnaz Gaffanov. The creative duo of the young talent and the experienced artist left no one in the audience indifferent.
The guests of honor at the premiere were Deputy Head of the Executive Committee Viner Kharisov, other officials and invited guests, as well as teachers from Chelny schools.
The play ended with an ovation — the audience gave the artists a standing ovation. The production "Tut takoye delo… Gabdulla Tukay" has already entered the theatre's repertoire.
