Municipal Budgetary Institution "Centralized Library System" (CLS) is the largest library institution in the city. The CLS unites 18 libraries: Central City Library, Central Children's Library, 10 public branch libraries and 6 children's branches. Reader services are provided in two languages – Russian and Tatar.
Today, the Centralized Library System of Naberezhnye Chelny is a modern library that houses literature on traditional and electronic media in the two state languages: Russian and Tatar. The total collection amounts to 732,383 copies of books across many branches of knowledge. The electronic library includes 6,285 electronic publications. Annually, about 50 newspaper titles and nearly 200 magazine titles are subscribed to.
User services include:
• Latest publications on economics, political science, law, history, philosophy, psychology, literary studies;
• Universal and specialized encyclopedias, reference books, dictionaries, including reprint editions of the encyclopedic dictionaries of Brockhaus and Efron;
• Audio and electronic books, video publications;
• Catalog and card index system;
• Electronic catalog;
• Electronic reading room.
The library employs information technologies. The corporate network connects more than 100 computers. Electronic document management has been implemented. Internet access is available at all workstations. An electronic catalog is being created in the "Ruslan" automated library information system.
The modern automated library information system allows you to quickly find the right book, compile a list of literature on a topic of interest, determine the storage location of the desired publication not only within our system's library space, but also obtain information about the collections of national and municipal libraries of the Republic of Tatarstan.
More than 2,000 public events are held annually for the population. These include presentations, book and magazine exhibitions, meetings with writers, poets, historians, local lore specialists, artists, literary evenings, holidays, and competition programs. There are 22 interest clubs.
