Municipal Autonomous Institution of Additional Education "Children's Music School No. 2" was opened in 1970 by order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the TASSR. The school's enrollment is 356 students. Instruction is conducted in 7 departments: piano, plucked string, folk-keyboard, choral, bowed string, wind, and vocal performance; in 15 specializations: piano, bayan, garmon, accordion, flute, saxophone, clarinet, violin, cello, synthesizer, domra, balalaika, guitar, choral singing, vocal performance. The program is designed for 5-year and 7-year study periods. Children are admitted to the school from age 7. Since September 2011, self-supporting groups "Early Aesthetic Education" have been opened.
The team has been led since 2009 by school director Alexander Evgenievich Rybin. Children's education is provided by 39 professional teachers; of these, 3 teachers hold the honorary title "Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan"; 17 (43.6%) teachers have higher education, 11 (28.2%) have the highest qualification category; 13 (33.3%) have the first qualification category.
